Tips For Improved Search Engine Ranking - Your Website Can Rank on the First Page of Google

When you follow these simple tips your site will climb in the search engine rankings and you will significantly increase the possibility of getting your site ranked on the first page of Google.

Review you site one page at a time, starting with the home page. Once you become familiar with these simple steps, you will be able to apply them to every page of your website and significantly increase your chance of having multiple pages rank on the first page of Google.

Find keywords relevant to your niche. Go to the Wordtracker free keyword research tool or use the Google AdWords tool to check the popularity of the keywords you are using and discover other related keywords that hadn’t occurred to you.

Avoid targeting very popular keywords. You will find it much harder to get your website ranked on the first page of Google if you target very popular keywords. You are looking for keywords that are searched for enough but don’t have lots of competing web pages.

Keyword research is an important key to top search engine ranking, so don’t rush this step. Spend a few hours researching different keywords, and while you are researching keywords make sure you check out your competitors by doing a search using those keywords. It’s important that you know how well the top ten sites are doing.

Be sure to keep a record of website addresses and related information so that you don’t waste your time repeating the same searches later.

Decide which keywords you will target and make sure you put them into the Meta tags of your page. You’ll find Meta tags in the head section of each web page.

If you go to any web page, right click and select View source, a notepad will open and you will see the HTML code for the the web page. The Meta Tags are near the top. The two most important meta tags are the Title Tag and Description Tag. Don’t just leave them blank.

You can list your keywords, separated by a comma, in the keywords meta tag, but it isn’t absolutely necessary as most search engines ignore them now because they have been abused so much.

Put you keyword phrase in your Title Tag. The text you use in the title tag appears in the title bar of the web browser and forms the first line of search results. The key to success is to create a meaningful title using your keyword phrase. Don’t just list all your keywords here.

The meta description is your opportunity to sell your site. Use your main keyword phrase for the page and and include a benefit to encourage browsers to click through to your site.

The title tag and your meta description will be displayed in many search engine listings. So, take time to time to make sure these elements are keyword rich, interesting, and relevant to your site.

Use your keyword phrase in the headline for your page and make sure the headline is in a headline tag. You can also include your keyword and related keyword phrases in sub headings.

You can use bold and italics to highlight your keywords in the body text but don’t overdo it. It must seem natural. It’s recommended that you don’t do this more than once on each page.

Use your keywords in the alt tags of images. This is text that will be displayed if the images fail to load. Get into the habit of always using alt tags for your images, The search engines like to find them here.

Encourage people who are linking to your website to use your keywords in anchor text and when you link to your own pages make sure you use variations of your keyword phrase in the anchor text.

Spend time each day building links to your site. Ideally you want a lot of links, but don’t sacrifice quality for quantity. Look to get links from authority sites. You can do this by getting your site listed in quality directories, submitting articles to Ezine Articles and commenting on high page rank blogs.

If you apply these simple tips every time you write or rewrite a web page you will find that your stream of free search engine traffic will gradually increase and that your site will find its way onto the first page of search engine results.

Don’t skimp on keyword research, if you spend time finding keywords that are searched for enough and don’t have lots of pages dedicated to them your site will have a much better chance of getting on the first page of Google, keyword research is worth the time and effort.

Page Rank VS Search Engine Result Position

It is very common for the Webmasters to mix up the real differences between Google Page Rank and Search Engine Result Position (SERP). Also known as the Search Engine Result Page, SERP is the main algorithm for web pages ranking. The most common misconception is that the PageRank is directly equivalent to the search rankings. This is not the case. This article discusses the real definition of both terms and clarify some common misconceptions.

A main difference between Page Rank and SERP is the frequency of update. As stated by the Google Engineer, Matt Cutts, Google updates Page Rank approximately once every three months. The updated Page Rank is shown on the Google tool bar. However, Google uses the latest Page Rank value of every page when calculating rankings for search queries. Therefore, Page Rank is only one of the many factors that were included in the SERP algorithm.

Other than Page Rank, SERP also includes other important factors such as content relevancy and freshness when it comes to ranking of a page. Keywords in domain names also contribute to the rankings. Hence, having a high Page Rank does not guarantee a good SERP. In fact, it is very common for a page that bears Page Rank of 4 to receive no search engine traffic.

It is also important to understand how Page Rank is calculated since it affects the SERP. The only factor that determines the Page Rank value is the inbound links. Inbound links are incoming links that point to a page. These links are extremely valuable especially if they contain relevant content. A page will have high Page Rank if it has a good amount of high quality links pointing to it.

Although Page Rank is only part of the main SERP algorithm, it is important to also attract quality inbound links so as to achieve a good SERP. In Google’s perspective, the more the high quality inbound links a page has, the more important is that page. Having a low Page Rank will make achieving a good ranking difficult especially when the competition is strong (ranking for highly competitive keywords).

To conclude, Page Rank is only part of the whole SERP algorithm. Webmasters should always aim for a high Search Engine Result Position (SERP) rather than Page Rank. A good SERP will receive good traffic from search engine as long as the targeted keywords are commonly searched.

Get Your Site Listed in Google Within 24 Hours or Less

Here is a little tip I picked up while doing some research into web site development
and promotion. It is a simple but very effective way to get a web page listed in
Google within just a few hours or less.

Search engine submission programs are about as obsolete as the keystroke
typewriter. Traditional submission programs are no longer really necessary and
do not guarantee inclusion into Google. These days most web pages are found and
indexed automatically, when one of Google’s greedy little spiders crawl the web
looking for fresh new content to devour. Once the Google spider crawls your web
site, instantly it is listed into Google according to the rank it gives you and
the way in which your pages have been keyword optimized.

The way you can call one of the little information starved Google spiders to
come to dinner is to do a search using the Google Toolbar. This will require
that you first download and install the Google toolbar. To download the Google
Toolbar go to
http://toolbar.google.com/
. (To learn all more about the various
functions of the Google Toolbar go to:

http://toolbar.google.com/help.html

How It Works:

After you’ve downloaded and installed the Google Toolbar, notice the green
PageRank strip just above the Google logo. Now rest your mouse cursor on top of
the PageRank strip and a text box will appear showing the PageRank number of the
site you are on. It shows a PR of between 0 and 10. Very few sites if any have a
PageRank of 10. What you eventually want is a 4/10 or above.

To get your web pages quickly indexed or listed into Google and Yahoo, enter the
index page URL of your site into the Google Search box. Next, click the Search
Web button next to it, and Google will begin searching for your URL.

This action will instantly call the Google Spiders to come search your web pages
and immediately your site will get listed into Google… that’s it!

YOU ARE NOW INDEXED IN GOOGLE!

You will know when the #1 page (the index page) to your site has been indexed
when you look at the Google Toolbar Page Rank indicator. There you will find the
bar color is “White”. This indicates Google has you indexed. This does not
mean you can instantly do a search in Google for your site and see it listed,
though. It means your web site has been indexed and is waiting in the queue to
appear.

NOTE #1: For reasons unknown to anyone, sometimes your page may not get index
for several hours, several days or weeks. Some index within one or two hours.
However, you must be patient if your pages do not show they’ve been indexed.

NOTE #2: At the start, you will not have a Page Rank worth mentioning. That will
come from getting inbound links from other sites, among other things. That is a
topic for discussion in another article.

This little trick works like a charm. Within about twenty-four hours of
my setting up a new site, I was able to see in my statistics that the Google
crawler had been there several times. Give it a shot!

Tips For High SERP

Tips for Better Search Engine Ranks

If you own a website, you probably want people to see it. If you want people to see it, then you better be high up on Google for some popular keywords. In today’s competitive world, higher search engine ranks are considered to be the holy grail of internet marketing. It’s actually not as hard as you might think to get placed high on Search Engine Results Pages ( SERP). The problem is many of us have no idea how to begin.

It’s not necessary to know about search engine optimization inside out to be successful. However, certain basic tricks definitely help. Here are a few tips to help you get higher rankings and boost traffic for your website on major search engine rankings.

Optimize your site on an extensively researched keyword phrase

Do extensive research while selecting your keyword phrases. Ideally, the phrases should be popular, and the websites that turn up in Google when you type in the keyword shouldn’t be very good (they should have a low Pagerank). Always take into account what the niche viewers are might be looking for. For better search engine traffic, long-tail keyword phrases are the way to go. It’s good for sales too as you get highly targeted traffic searching exactly what you are offering them. You can take the help of some advanced research tools such as Wordtracker, KeywordDiscovery, or even Google’s Keyword Tool to find the optimal phrases for your site.

Well managed Links guarantee higher rank

The tremendous importance of linking can be understood when you realize that today’s major search engines use the quality and quantity of incoming links in their ranking algorithms. Simply put, if your site has more inbound links, search engines would give a ranking boost to your site based on the links. Search engines consider only those links that are from quality sites having relevant content. Don’t worry if your site doesn’t have many links. You can start link building and get some. Participating in blogs and forums with your signature link to your web site is a great way to have serious link building. However, don’t opt for ‘link farms’ as it will have an adverse effect on your search engine ranks.

Title bar can be used to optimize the keywords

Title bar is an effective and yet often the most overlooked feature of any page. Most of the time you would observe when the browser opens your home page or any other page for that matter, it generally displays either untitled or your site’s name. But it can be used to contain your most important keywords on your homepage. But make sure to use distinct keywords, and the length should be restricted within six words. Also avoid using very long keyword strings.
Build your site as “crawler-friendly.”

It doesn’t matter what scripts you have used for links and menus of your site, but it’s a good idea to have some form of HTML links in the main navigation on every page which link to the top-level pages of your site. This alternative means of navigation is helpful for the search engine crawlers to pick the relevant links.

Hope the tips discussed above will be helpful in boosting traffic for your site. Remember, a properly optimized site having high search engine ranking for every page helps it to attract many highly targeted visitors who may eventually become serious prospects!

5 Smart Ways To Improve Page Rankings - Part 1

The majority of todays experts agree that web pages have to be search engine friendly to improve your search engine rankings. You must start with a well designed page with relevant web copy. This is crucial. Doing this properly will help the search engines easily index your web pages and rank them high.

In addition to internal page factors such as frequency and positioning of relevant keyword phrases, the leading search engines are now recommending that you place more importance on off the page factors, particularly links from other domains.

If you are bent on working with Google then you need to understand that Google ranks individual urls based on which other urls link to them, which urls link to those and so on.

You must carefully choose the terms you want to use to include as the most productive search terms for your site. Consider carefully terms that associate with the correct targeted visitors for your site. Place these terms in the search engines and find out what pages rank near the top for them. These pages should be on your list if you want to link to them.

Once you’ve completed this step now find which pages are linked to these sites and put them on your list as well. If you are able to get links from any of these sites then you will be able to dramatically improve your ranking on Google and other search engines.

In summary here are the key steps to always follow:

  • Improve your Link Popularity
  • Carefully consider your Metatags and Keywords/Phrases
  • Write a persuasive Home Page
  • Use Clickthroughs and Affiliate Programs for better ranking
  • Submit a Site Map

HubPages Equals Free Traffic

Many of you may have heard of Squidoo which is a competitor of Hubpages.com. Basically both of them are a “free-hosted community of content producers”. Both Squidoo and Hubpages can be “grouped” into the Web 2.0 movement - where user generated content rules.

If you are already familiar with Squidoo, the your entrance into working with Hubpages will be very straightforward. Both Squidoo and Hubpages SHARE REVENUE with their content creators.

What Makes Them Similar, Yet Different?

From HubPages.com: “Hubpages purpose is to provide easy-to-use tools and traffic to help anyone to produce content and monetize their knowledge by creating webpages. There will be monetization programs to choose from consisting of products, advertisements and lead generation tools that each person can easily incorporate into their pages.

Hubpages will split revenue with the content creator. The pages are organized in the Hubpages website based on algorithmic quality index that promotes the best pages throughout the hierarchy (based on tags) of the website.

Each author will earn a reputation score called a HubScore that can be referenced to meter the quality of the content by an author. Hubpages will be positioned to take advantage of the significant numbers of new web content providers that want to supplement their income through content like many people do on eBay by selling goods.”

From Squidoo: “We divide up the money we receive in a very public way. First, we pay our bills. That’s direct out of pocket expenses like rent and servers and salary and benefits expenses (our CEO doesn’t take a salary, and neither does our board of directors).

Then, with no other deductions, we pay 5% of our post-expense revenue directly to the charity pool, 50% directly to our lensmasters and retain the rest to pay off investors and employees.”

So, other than the obvious revenue sharing, is there any other reason to consider using Hubpages? YES! As Hubpages is considered an authority by Google, you are able to make money with the Google Adsense that is on your hubpage.

Developing content on Hubpages should become an important part of your overall web marketing / promotional strategies.

In addition to your actual ‘hubs’ ranking on the various search engines, you can link directly to your other websites! And guess what? These backlinks are being ‘counted’.

So Hubpages can help you strengthen your entire marketing presence and ‘network of sites’. One of the best things about creating Hubpages and Squidoo lenses is that it can be outsourced.

Outsource the writing, and by doing so, you free up your time to create more Hubpages. Another great aspect of any free content hosting site, is that they have already built-in traffic from other members, and if you are applying your linking knowledge to this, you will be creating tons of back links…Power Linking!

Web 2.0 properties such as Hubpages and Squidoo have become an important part of our overall traffic strategy and works well in any niche market.

Remember, your competitors are most likely NOT on Hubpages so it is still a ‘land grab’.

What is a Blog?

A blog is a web site in which items are posted on a regular basis and displayed in reverse chronological order that can be viewed in a web browser. The term blog is a shortened form of web log. Creating a blog, maintaining a blog or adding content to a blog is called “blogging”. Individual content on a blog are referred to as “blog posts”. A person who posts content is called a “blogger”. The blog software that allows you to manage your website is called “CMS” or “Content Management System”.
