LearningCommunties as the Foundation of a Cooperative Commonwealth (2003)

The heart of the continuing project to promote non school learning is the Internet. The Coalition’s own web page is only a piece of the growing interest in using the Internet for learning. Brain research has shown that learning is not only different for each individual but also it is a continual non-linear process. That is, that we do not learn and store one set of facts or a discipline in one part of the brain. But that new knowledge if being taken in all the time and being harmonized within the existing single holistic neural network of each person’s brain. This individualized non-linear learning cannot be efficiently forced on a group of students at the same time in the same place by the same technique. Learning is a unique experience for each person.

The Internet provides a radically different mode of learning. One can transfer quickly among areas of knowledge as needed and desired by the individual. To emphasize non-linear learning the Coalition’s web page is designed as a mandala. That is, its cover page presents a number of options for the reader, not a linear index. A reader may start with the philosophy, practical examples, resources, general discussion, or other entry points. Internal links will lead the reader to other areas inside the Coalition’s web site or to other websites without a break in continuity. Claudia L’Amoreux and Ib Bang are coordinating the efforts to make the web site a model of what the Internet may become in providing learning experiences.

^
Communal Learning

But we recognize that the Internet can not be a substitute for parents, family, friends, teachers, community or other means of learning and of social intercourse. So a strong emphasis of the web site is on collaborative learning and the development of local learning communities. A special section is devoted to “New Chapters” that provide how to guidance to self-learners and their families. Subsections will be on How to form local communities, How to organize cooperatives, How to become a Self-Learner, Social Transformation, Learning Libraries, and other topics required for collaborative learning programs. Merrill Tew, a PhD student in education, and Laddie Lushin, a lawyer with 25 years experience with food cooperatives have provided “New Chapters” and are leading the development of these concepts.

^
From Teachers to Mentors

Equally important, we feel, is the role of mentors, learning coaches, counselors, and learning guides. “Morphing ’school teachers’ into ‘community mentors’” is a topic of particular interest we are discussing on the listserv We plan to develop “New Chapters” on the future learning profession for the web site. As the efficiency of self-learning or child-centered-learning becomes better recognized a new profession for teachers may emerge. Mentors will be called on to help individuals of all ages to plan their own learning programs. This will require not only a professional understanding of how an individual learns, but also an understanding of how to provide learning opportunities within the community. Libraries and museums will play an increasingly important role in future learning. But so will factories, farms, businesses, the streets, and nature.

The future community learning professionals cannot remain isolated in schools any more than the future citizens can be so isolated. As learning become more lifelong and centered in the individual and experienced in the community the learning professionals will have an increasingly important role to play in the life of the community. Libraries may be a better model for future learning centers than are today’s schools. Member, Charles Willets, editor of Counterpoise, is facilitating cooperation between this Coalition and progressive librarians.

^
Cultural Transition

Community, not education, is the central interest of many members of this Coalition. We see the global and local social problems facing humanity as inherent in the social structure, and in the educational system that forms the citizen of the future. The diminishing concern for family values and community solidarity leaves citizens old and young with no sense of belonging. “Belonging” is a most, if not the most, fundamental need of humans. If healthy outlets for this need are not provided by the family, neighborhood, and community, individuals will satisfy that need by joining cults, gangs, secret societies and other forms of antisocial organizations. Violence, such as that at Columbine, as well as the general alienation of youth is a clear indication that schools do not meet that social need.

Many members of ‘A Coalition for Self-Learning’ see the strengthening of communities as the the Coalition’s purpose for being. One of our core members, Bill Wetzel, on graduation from high school two years ago took a year off to bike the country visiting other schools to talk to other young people. He found that like himself youth was generally bored and alienated by schools. He has now organized “Power to Youth” to help highschool students and others young people to organize and to take control of their own learning.

Another member of the Coalition, Rick Smyre, consultant and President of CCOF (Center of Communities of the Future) recognizes the crucial impact that the education system has in community development. His programs to develop the capacity of local citizens to prepare for the future emphasizes the need to involve young people throughout their lives in community activities and community governance.

The sense of community and belonging is also the topic by Michael Cohen in his “New Chapter” in the online book, “Educating and Counseling with Nature: A Natural Systems Thinking Process produces ecopsychology courses and degrees that enable students to increase academic skills, resiliency and responsible relationships.” Cohen has been leading non-school wilderness learning sessions for a number of decades. His Natural Systems Thinking Process is based on developing a practical understanding of the critical place cooperation has in nature. Nothing can exist without a extensive system of others to maintian it. Communities are a crucial part of the life support systems required by humanity.

This same theme is echoed by the theoretical studies of Kathia and Alexander Laszlo in the field of The Theory of General Evolution. Their Evolutionary Learning Centers (ELCs) are based on ideas similar of Paulo Friere’s that learning should be a preparation and participation in the continuality of change. The new theories of chaos, complexity and gaia show the interconnectedness of all life. They imply that learning communities must become the basis for a sustainable future. Kathia and Alexander are now leading a task force to coordinate an internet conference, with other leaders of community development, on the internet and plan for a broader future international conference on creating learning communities.

^
Collaborative Homeschooling

The proof that schools are unnecessary is perhaps best witnessed by the success of homeschooling. Average SAT scores, the success of homeschoolers in the best of our universities, the long history of leaders like Margaret Mead, Albert Einstein, Abraham Lincoln and other self-learners, as well as the learning systems of many other cultures is proof being touted in a growing number of publications. Many homeschool advocates including Ann Lahrson Fisher, Patrick Farenga, Jerry Mintz, Katharine Houk, Linda Dobson, Mary Leue, and others are active participants in the Coalition. Long before the Coalition formed they were recognizing the emergence of “homeschool support groups” and other forms of collaborative learning.

The concern that the abandonment of schools by homeschoolers will be a detriment to public education is a legitimate concern of many educators. Others critics have suggested that homeschooling is an element of the “bowling alone” trend of individuals abandoning community in their own individual self-interest. Some see the charter school movement as a solution to providing more popular input and flexibility to the current educational system.

All of these concerns and happenings are being taken into account in the Coalition’s programs. We recognize that not all parents are capable, willing or want to homeschool. We see homeschooling as a most successful experiment on the way toward a more open, progressive, flexible. life long learning system. Our experiments aim at using the best of these practices, and overcoming the worst of the faults of the current system. Our goal is to move beyond schooling and beyond homeschooling to a learning system and a society that values the individual, the community, society, and nature in new ways.

A Man as Great as His Dream

He was one of a kind. He was the personification of truth, justice and equality for all mankind, not just for one race of people. No one has come close to being the mover and shaker as he in the arena of Equal Rights. A man with a dream who died for the cause for which he fought is worthy of recognition. It is with great honour to give honour to the late Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

The county in which I live was the last county in the United States to make his birthday a day of observance for its citizens. Personally, I do not feel a mandate must be issued for me to support something I believe and wish to pay tribute. I also do not feel superficial homage just by taking the day off is acceptable. The day should be celebrated by supporting the numerous events taking place in your community or anywhere in the nation, with your presence.

In Greenville, South Carolina last evening, approximately 1600 guests gathered at a Diversity Banquet in honour of Dr. King. His son, Martin, III was the keynote speaker. He was but ten years old when an assassin’s bullet ended the life of his father. Two high profile Republicans, U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham and U.S. Rep. Bob Inglis spoke earlier in the evening.

“There was a time not too long ago in South Carolina when a statewide politician would have been ashamed to get up and say good thing about Martin Luther King,” Graham said to the crowd. “Now, a statewide politician would be ashamed not to say good things about Martin Luther King.”

Rep. Bob Inglis said the slain civil rights leader had “improved” upon the work of the founding fathers.

“Dr. King, using Christ-like principles, showed us how to really change America,” Inglis added.

One has to agree with each statement spoken by these politicians. Dr. King spoke of truths that most Americans were not prepared to hear. Sometimes the Truth can be a difficult pill to swallow. It also sets us free. A person has to know the truth first, but wrapping one’s mind around something that opposes what one has believed for a lifetime is not easy. Once it [truth] has been presented, however, it is up to each individual to accept or reject it. It’s their choice. Simply rejecting the Truth does not exempt anyone from being accountable and responsible for doing what is right. If we sought the Truth, found and accepted it, our values, priorities, and outlook would definitely change. We would learn just how superficial [shallow] our racial prejudices really are and how life is but a vapor [temporary]. Why not pursue something that is eternal?

“Let us not wallow in the valley of despair, I say to you today, my friends.

And so even though we face the difficulties of today and tomorrow, I still have a dream. It is a dream deeply rooted in the American dream.

I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal.”

Excerpt from Martin Luther King, Jr.: “I Have a Dream” Speech

Dr. King was a man as great as his dream. There have been improvements and setbacks. It is up to each of us as individuals to pursue harmonious race relations. Everyone, regardless of their skin colour, deserves to reap the benefits provided by our Constitution. We must trust in God as we make our nonbiased contributions.

Moving Can Be a Taxing Decision

So, what motivates federal employees and others to move during retirement? While there may be other factors, this list covers a number of the considerations many of our fellow baby boomers and others consider important in making such a decision.

First, we may decide to move because a specific job offer emerges from either the private or public sector. This offer to someone in greater demand could also include a future independent contractor status or registration with a speaker’s bureau or talent agency, for example. Or, it may include starting your own business or even buying a franchise with an established business plan and strategy to pursue.

Second, we may decide to move because of family considerations, which range from aging parents to relocating so that we can be closer to our children and grandchildren. In fact, a number of my daughter’s closest young adult friends in Greater St. Louis have talked about their parents taking precisely this step recently. By the way, this observation includes the movement of grandparents to the St. Louis area, who have never before lived in that region.

Third, men and women also choose to move to a more exciting part of the US or they may choose to live abroad, which an increasing number of Americans are now deciding to do. For example, a fellow baby boomer web entrepreneur, Ann Fry, decided to move from Austin, TX to New York City over the past year and she has never looked back on her decision. The 62 year old Ann runs a successful web site plus works as a motivational speaker and career coach. So, part of her relocation formula has included an upsurge in her speaking engagements and coaching assignments, especially since she moved to New York, despite the warnings of doom and lack of success from her Austin, Texas-based friends.

Fourth, other men and women choose to move to a different part of the US especially for tax reasons. But, of course, the question, which quickly emerges in this complex set of variables is “which taxes?” Many of us no doubt already know Texas or Florida (part-time) citizens, who have emigrated to these states because neither levies a state income tax. Of course, the winning formula is that “they” actually live in their adopted states for one-half of the year plus one day.

But, did you know that there are actually a total of seven states with no income tax as follows: (1) Alaska, (2) Florida, of course, (3) Nevada, (4) South Dakota, (5) Texas, (6) Washington and (7) Wyoming. In addition, New Hampshire and Tennessee only tax interest and dividends.

Likewise, it should be clearly said that a total of 26 states plus the District of Columbia do not tax Social Security benefits. IMPORTANT: Our web site, NowWhatJobs.net, is against any states taxing Social Security income. From our standpoint, because of the current and coming labor shortages and especially because of the current skills shortages, our society cannot afford to do anything, which has the net effect of discouraging men and women from continuing to work in America.

Finally, other men and women will factor some or all of these issues into consideration, when deciding where and when to move in our society. In the final analysis, even local sales taxes and property taxes can and should enter into this equation. For example, the City of Chicago recently passed an incredibly high local sales tax, which put this great city at or near the top of local sales taxes in the whole US among major cities. Of course, this consideration only becomes important when someone wants to buy something, whatever that may be.

To tax or not to tax — that will indeed be the question for state and local governments in the future in the US and elsewhere, as a wave of baby boomers begin to consider all of their relocation factors and options. “Yes,” state and local governments would like the bank deposits, which provide the necessary capital needed for consumer loans and local businesses to expand and create even more jobs in that area. “Yes,” state and local governments would also like men and women, who will not be adding to the local student population in our nation’s public schools, but who will never the less be adding to the local property tax base. “Yes,” state and local governments would also like to have men and women, who are creditworthy and who have a greater equity position in their homes move into the community.

But, what if anything are these state and local governments willing to do in order to court “our” favor, you might logically ask? This writer submits to you that the answer to this question will cause state and local governments around the US to make a whole series of different decisions, both now and in the near future, in order to demonstrate “their friendliness” to my fellow baby boomers, who are 78 million strong just in the US.

Five Warning Signs Your Business Needs A Tune-Up

No business owner intends to fail. But after the initial glow of self-employment fades away, many owners unknowingly limit their future opportunities and burden their own credit by doing business and thinking small. Incredibly, many business owners overlook the opportunity to build financial credibility and open doors for expansion by failing to look at specific signs that their business needs a tune-up.

#1: BUILDING YOUR BUSINESS WITH PERSONAL DOLLARS

Starting a new business often means putting in your own money to Jump Start the business. Initial out-of-pocket capital expenses might include a business license, signs and advertising, business cards, initial inventory, and business equipment. While this might be the quickest way to get underway in the ‘Start-Up’ phase of your enterprise, it quickly becomes a financial burden when your business needs to expand beyond being just a ‘Mom & Pop’ operation.

#2: PERSONALLY GUARANTEES FOR BUSINESS EXPENSES

It’s often the case that when you need to lease a copy machine, storage facility, automotive vehicle, office or business equipment, the source looks to you to personally ‘guarantee’ the transaction. That means you personally must sign and stand behind the cost. If the business cannot meet the obligation, you’re expected by the source to carry the burden yourself. That means the full extent of your savings, home equity, investments and everything else you have an ownership interest in is at risk.

When a personal guaranty is involved, lenders or business vendors normally collect personal financial information before making a decision about the transaction. They want information such as your personal balance sheet, personal income statement and a personal credit profile in order to make a decision about the loan. The higher your debt to personal income ratio, the more of a strain is being put on your personal credit. Many investors step up and sign personal guarantees because they feel they have no other choice. Yet if you use personal credit too often, it can actually hurt your personal credit score.

#3: DOING BUSINESS IN YOUR OWN NAME

If you are doing business in your own name as an unincorporated Sole Proprietor with no corporation or limited liability company, then you are at very high risk of personal liability. That is because legally, you and the business are one-and-the-same.

Establishing your ‘business entity’ is the first step to reducing your risk. Today, the national trend in company formation is that more LLCs are being formed throughout the USA each year than corporations. That wasn’t always the case, but today with IRS adoption of its check-the-box regulations, as well as with the asset protection and privacy now available in states like Nevada, limited liability companies have become very popular for their flexibility, privacy, protection and simplicity of operation.

Operating your business through a Company gives you better credibility in the marketplace and it’s much easier to obtain business credit. Additionally, by operating as a Company, you’ll have more business deductions available to you than if you’re operating as a Sole Proprietor.

#4: HALF-FINISHED BUSINESS PLAN

One of the reasons so many business enterprises fail is that they don’t have a realistic and specifically written Business Plan with sufficient detail in each category. While a business plan is no guarantee of success, it certainly helps you to move what’s ‘possible’ in your business future to the ‘probable’ category. I won’t say that business owners are lazy when it comes to drafting a business plan - just intimidated by the effort it takes to ‘do it right.’ It means defining your business, laying out the market for your service or product as it exists today, understanding the competitive environment, assessing your strengths and areas needing improvements, and developing a marketing plan and loan proposal that you can take to the bank or other lender with confidence.

Most business owners sum up their unwritten business plan this way: work hard, make as much money as you can, then do it again next year and hope for the best. By contrast, the businesses enterprises that enjoy long-term financial success see a business plan as a dynamic inter-active living document that gets reviewed and updated on a regular basis.

#5: FAILING TO BUILD A BUSINESS CREDIT PROFILE

When a business is started, regardless of what your personal credit score is today, it’s entirely possible to build an entirely business credit. With a systematic approach, you can work to build a positive business credit score that is not tied to your personal credit and spending habits. That way, as your business needs cashflow to expand, pursue a major marketing initiative or respond to any other business need, the money is available.

The line of credit your business can have is enhanced by certain factors that help to build business financial credibility in the marketplace. For example, operating your business through a company helps to separate the individual ‘you’ from the business enterprises as a separate ‘person’ in the eyes of both the law and the financial world. Also by developing trade references and opening business lines of credit with vendors such as office depot, etc. you can begin the process.

Your personal credit profile is tied to your personal social security number. The consumer credit reporting agencies keep files that are separate from those kept by a business credit reporting agency. A business can and should develop its own credit profile, but remember that to be successful it must be done differently than the way you developed a personal or ‘consumer’ credit profile.

First of all, you have to be organized. Second, you must be persistent and patient. Third, you must monitor progress by staying in touch with your credit-granting vendors. For example, if you buy office equipment and supplies at Office Depot for your business, rather than use your personal credit card, open an account in the name of your business and ask for a line of credit. Even if you can afford to pay the full amount when it becomes due, make your payments on time and over a 90 to 120 day period. Then be sure to ask the vendor (in this example, Office Depot) to report not under your personal name but under the name of the business. Explain you are trying to build company credit for your business.

It’s important to understand the business credit bureaus. First of all, Dun and Bradstreet is by far the biggest player with the most experience and influence. Today it has registered wtih it about 70 million businesses enterprises. Its closest competitor is Experian Business, which has about 14 million businesses registered. Business Credit USA, Client Checker, Equifax Business, and FD Insight round out the field and these should be considered as well.

Each of these agencies has employees who stay on the phone and internet all day long to ‘verify’ your submitted business information whether submitted by you or by a third party. If questionable entries arise in the course of their verification process, this will ‘red flag’ your business and result in a less-favorable business credit rating.

You should also know that personal consume credit scores and your business or company credit scores are based on two separate and distinct scales. On the one hand, your personal score (which is rated from a low of 300 to a high of 850) is linked to your own individual social security number as a filing and designation identifier. On the other hand, corporate or company business credit is identified with your company’s IRS-issued taxpayer identification number (also called an EIN or ‘employer identification number). This type of score runs from a lower corporate credit score of zero to a high of 100. For financial credibility, a business credit score of 75 or higher is considered to be an excellent score.

It’s often the case that business owners will put the ‘cart before the horse’ and will unwittingly register with the business credit bureaus in advance of really being ready. Doing so before you have all your ‘ducks lined up’ is a sure fire way to be ‘red-flagged’ and denied a strong credit rating.

You might be frustrated in the beginning at pace of obtaining business credit. However it’s usually the case that you might begin the wrong way and mistakes in the beginning result in ‘red flags’ being raised in the verification process of the credit reporting agency.

In preparing for a registration with the major business credit reporting agencies, you’ll want to first be able to prove up a history of on-time payment with vendors (i.e. office depot, equipment suppliers, commercial landlords, etc.) that will report your business credit history not in your personal name but rather in the name of your business. My longstanding advice to new and experienced business owners alike is that it would be wise to wait on registering with any of the business credit bureaus until you first seriously consider the use of a professional business credit coach.

Some coaching in advance with third-party pre-registration verification may just be the ticket to achieving a higher business credit score. Plus you can learn from the mistakes made by others ahead of you. This can save you time and money.

As I speak at workshops and business conferences around the county, I often get stopped in the hallway afterward and asked for information and referrals to quality business credit coaches. I’m happy to oblige even though I don’t personally practice in that particular area. It’s related to the business enterprises and investment holdings of my business, tax and asset protection clients and I have done my own due diligence on quality providers.

If you’d like to know more, send me an e-mail at WealthPreservation@cox.net and I’ll put you in touch with ethical business coaches who can help you ‘do it right the first time.’

EMillions - 14 Internet Millionaire Success Stories by Stanley Tang

I generally dislike books that contain case studies or interviews. For one thing, I think that both of these are highly overrated. The reason is that it’s all about telling you how the person became successful. There’s usually very little advice included to tell you how to do the same thing.

This book is definitely different. From the very beginning it’s engaging. The author, Stanley Tang, is 16 years old. While other young men his age are probably out chasing girls, he’s writing a book.

Next are the interviews themselves. Instead of the usual “this is how I did it” message, there’s actually real nuggets of advice. (Personally, I would buy and read this book just to see what Mark Joyner had to say because he’s been so influential in my life.)

The business owners involved are a diverse group themselves including three military veterans (Mark Joyner, Jason James, and Willie Crawford), two immigrants (Yanik Silver and Joel Christoper), a 17 year old inner city kid (Jermaine Griggs) and a woman with no previous business experience (Rosalind Gardener). Many have endured various forms of adversity, but they certainly didn’t allow this to stop them from becoming successful business owners and millionaires.

Some of the names you may recognize and others you may not because they come from so many different areas of the US, as well as having different niches outside of internet marketing. Regardless, this is a book you will want to read again and again because it contains so many nuggets of wisdom.

The author has also included a huge bonus pack for his readers with a value of over $5,000. Bonuses include everything from audio to ebooks on Law of Attraction, niche marketing, and starting your own successful online business.

I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to start a business online or wants to be more successful. The advice alone is worth thousands of dollars in consulting fees, but you can get it for the low cost of a book. This book won’t teach you everything you need to know about starting a business online, but it will tell you everything you need to know to get it right.

How To Repair The Acer D2D Recovery

This tutorial can also help to do it on other computer brands

Disclaimer : First of all you must be aware that some of the operations to come can cause irreversible change on your hard disk, I recommend to you and I will never make it enough make a backup of your system before launching you in any hazardous operation. Any damage and/or modification done on your system will be under your whole responsibility. The following procedures were done on a Acer Aspire 5102wlmi and some also functioned on a Dell Inspiron 9400/1705.

As you know, the Acer computers and those of other manufacturers are now delivered with a system of restoration installed in a hidden partition of your hard disk. This system launches out while pressing keys ALT+F10 simultaneously. And sometimes for various reasons this system ceases functioning.

The first cause often comes owing to the fact that function D2D Recovery is disable in the bios (menu principal).

The solution : enable the function and try to press keys ALT+F10 during the starting of the computer.

The second cause : in this case hidden partition PQSERVICE was erased or damaged, or you replaced the disc and in this case it is not present.

The solution : If you did not previously make a backup of your system by making an image disc. It will not be possible to use the D2D recovery. Your only hope will be to have in your possession Acer Recovery CD/DVD.

And the third causes : the Acer Master Boot Record (MBR)was damaged or replaced by non-Acer MBR. As long as partition PQSERVICE is present or that you can put the hand on the necessary Acer files you can reinstall the MBR of Acer.

The solution :

First method : on a functional Windows system:

1 disable the D2D recovery option of the bios.

2 open a Windows session with an account administrator.

3 Download, unzip and launch partedit32(registration required for download).

4 Identify the Pqservice partition by its size (at the bottom of the partedit window there is a partition information box) it is a small sized partition approximately 2 to 6 Go.Once made change the type of your partition into 0C and save. Restart and open a session with an administrator account, you should be able to navigate to the PQservice partition. Seek these two files mbrwrdos.exe and rtmbr.bin once localised open a command prompt and launch this command mbrwrdos.exe install rtmbr.bin, this will install the Acer MBR. Close the command prompt window restart again Windows go into the bios and reactivate the D2D recovery. Now ALT+F10 should launch Acer recovery at the starting of the computer.

Second method : On a nonfunctional Windows system.

For that you must use a Linux distribution (for me Mandriva provided all the tools necessary).

1 Boot on the Mandriva install CD/DVD the boot menu will give you the possibility to repair or to restore the Windows boot loader.

2 If that is not enough launch an installation of linux(this will be an occasion to test this terrible OS) and choose LILO as boot loader(a boot menu that allow you to choose between several operating systems) once finished the installation. Restart your computer in the boot loader menu system you will have at least 2 Windows options the first generally point to PQservice choose it and you will boot directly into acer D2D recovery.

The last solution is the simplest one, just note that during the Linux installation you will have to resize your Windows partition to create a place for a new Linux partition it is the most perilous part because irreversible, therefore take your precautions at this time.

Data Recovery From Hard Drive

Is the task of data recovery from hard drive mishaps a difficult undertaking? Certainly not, with the software tools we have at our disposal today. We’ve all accidentally deleted a file before… but what if we find out only after the recycle bin has been emptied? Such software can save the day.

How about if a hard drive crash has made us have to reboot the system and lose unsaved data? That’s no problem as well. And if our computer catches a virus, painfully causing us to “wipe the slate clean” by reformatting the entire hard drive and reinstalling the operating system, such software can also perform data recovery from hard drive mishaps like this as well.

What if we get so frustrated to the point that we take a baseball bat and violently bash our computers into a spark sputtering pulp? Well, I’m afraid there is nothing to do in that situation… you are quite on your own with that one! But aside from that, regardless of how your information was lost, it can be regained easily without any computer hacking skills or programming knowledge required!

Remember, any files or other data never truly leaves your computer - it’s always hiding out somewhere in your system. We all have heard how when a government agency needs to perform data recovery from hard drive systems that are heavily guarded, or has had their systems “purged of all data”, they still find what they are looking for. Is it because they have a team of hackers typing away day in and day out to try to unlock the secrets from the hard drive’s greedy grasp? Well, yes - these are the people who write the software programs for these government agencies to use.

Now you too can have such power at your fingertips. With just a few mouse clicks, you can perform any data recovery from hard drive mess-ups with the ease of falling down from your chair! Get back that which had been taken from you with such software tools right now!

An Overview On Data Recovery

One of the biggest fears for computer users today is probably losing the information that is stored on their machines, therefore perpetuating the need for data recovery. This is a fear that is likely shared by Palm Pilot users and anyone else who stores files and information on any type of computerized device.

After all, if that is where your information is stored, then what happens if it is lost or deleted? As well, since these gadgets are “mechanical devices” they are at risk of breaking down at some point.

Data recovery is the process in which data or information that has been deleted, has failed, is corrupt or is inaccessible from the main storage location, is salvaged or retrieved. This process is a lifesaver for some faithful computer users.

There are many explanations for how and why you can experience lost data. It can be as simple as accidentally hitting the delete button or having a power surge. You risk losing data any time your computer’s hard drive is jeopardized.

That can happen in numerous ways. For example, if your computer is hit by lightening in an electrical storm, then it can wipe out your hard drive causing you to lose valuable information. Water damage, computer viruses, corrupt files, and the age of your hardware are all issues that can affect and/or damage your hard drive.

If your HD is damaged, then you could lose all data. Today, with the ever expanding technological advances, there are many ways to help you recover data. However, if done incorrectly, then you could risk damaging the hard drive even further or overwriting what you are trying to retrieve.

It is a good idea to backup any information that is important to you, whether it is from a personal or business standpoint. However, most programs, files and operating systems have data recovery software available to reverse the process of lost data.

The type of data recovery used to retrieve the lost information will likely depend on the operating system being used. Although data can often be retrieved to some degree with “recovery programs,” it is wise to consult a professional before attempting to recover lost data.

Many of the programs available overwrite the “corrupt files” which may cause you to lose what was contained in that file. So, though it is possible to recover data, it can be a very sensitive and even tedious process and should be done by a professional or someone who knows exactly what they are doing. Otherwise, you could risk losing all of the jeopardized files.
